LA Happenings tries to pick a handful of interesting events to post every day. We can't post every event, and we just won't post some events. We assembled this list to help you understand what events are appropriate and what events are not appropriate.

Appropriate:

  • Independently produced shows
  • Unique local cultural events
  • Band performances
  • Theater performances
  • Art openings
  • Comedy performance
  • Free events
  • Competitions
  • Charity fundraisers
  • Book readings
  • Lectures
  • Block parties
  • Community meetings, town hall meetings, debates, civic events, or local-government related events
  • Special events at your restaurant or bar relating to large national events. (Super Bowl Parties, Holiday Parties, Election parties, etc.)
  • Festivals, carnivals, and fairs

Not So Appropriate:

  • Store sales events
  • Regular restaurant menu specials, happy hours, etc.
  • Your personal party or anything not open to the public
  • Events with high-ticket prices
  • Events outside of the greater Los Angeles area
  • "Virtual" events (any event that does not exist in an actual physical location)
  • Long-running exhibitions (such as museum displays) that span a period of greater than 1 week
  • Professional sporting events
  • Yoga classes, cooking classes, guitar lessons, etc
  • Church services
  • Corporate events, conferences, or seminars
